"Chromatic Vibrance" showcases the electrifying paintings of Benjamin Harjo, Jr., an acclaimed artist celebrated for his masterful use of bold and dynamic colors that invigorate the canvas. This temporary exhibit transports viewers into Harjo's vibrant world, where each piece pulsates with energy and emotion, inviting exploration and contemplation.

This exhibit was made possible through the generosity of Jonnie Ulrey and Micahel Cornwell, friends and longtime collectors of Harjo's work.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Benjamin Harjo Jr. (1945-2023) was a renowned Native American painter and printmaker of Seminole and Absentee Shawnee descent, celebrated for his vibrant and evocative works that combined traditional Indigenous themes with contemporary techniques. Born in Clovis, New Mexico, Harjo pursued his education in fine arts, studying at the Institute of American Indian Arts, and earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Oklahoma State University.
His art often drew inspiration from Native American culture, rich symbolism, and folklore, marked by bold colors and expressive forms. Throughout his career, he exhibited widely in numerous galleries and institutions, earning accolades for his contributions to both the art world and Indigenous community. Harjo's legacy continues to inspire future generations of artists, reflecting the strength and richness of Native American identity.
