This is a complete listing of the 184 letters from the personal papers of Gov. Charles Robinson held in the Kansas State Archives at the Kansas Historical Society that were identified as pertaining directly to Robinson's time at Haskell and were used in the development of this website. These letters were photographed by Jancita Warrington and indexed and transcribed by Travis Campbell in 2018. Gorman
Letter regarding Agency Indians at Haskell received. Enclosed a letter about "bad" ones among a Cherokee party and advises Robinson to "compel" the "liars" of this party to quit the school ASAP. Mentions filling vacant positions and the possibility of a Congressman Burns as replacement for Robinson.

Frances J. Gaddis
Afraid she has done more harm than good in trying to help Robinson. Catholics are fighting and "telling their stories." Mr. Townsend wants his daughter sent home sick. She has started her own school.

Daughter begs him to come get her, she says school has improved since Robinson took charge, she has had no shoes at Haskell and has been very unhappy here and he did not send her here to be an "Irish washer woman."

Band complaining about Edgar McCassey, accusing him of cheating them and causing a great deal of injury, want him removed and replaced with Fieldie Sweezy.

Apology letter for violating the rules by crossing onto the girls' side of campus on a walk. Apology for throwing a snowball into the chapel window at his cousin.

Appealing for the removal of "one who has proven himself to be profane." Does not state who is using this profane language.

Jonathan Gore
Son, Blake Gore, expelled for drunkenness. Blake acknowledged fault and has left for "parts unknown." Father thanks Robinson for his kindness to son.

Would like to consult with Mr. Plumb about the subject of Robinson's successor. Regrets that Robinson felt compelled to resign. States that Col. Learnard will be satisfactory to him.

Authority to add additional matron at Haskell. A Mr. "F" has visisted the Superintendent and "made one of the most savage attacks on Col. Learnard that I ever heard on the lips of a man." Explained situation to Sup't.

Webb Hayes wishes to return to Haskell, says he "Can't stand camping/Indian life."
