This is a complete listing of the 184 letters from the personal papers of Gov. Charles Robinson held in the Kansas State Archives at the Kansas Historical Society that were identified as pertaining directly to Robinson's time at Haskell and were used in the development of this website. These letters were photographed by Jancita Warrington and indexed and transcribed by Travis Campbell in 2018. 1888.07.03 | George J., Wm. Pearce | Sends money for his children, Willie and Georgie. Signatures show money received was by the boys. |
1888.07.06 | Josiah Patterson | Glad to be home, asks Robinson to write him soon, asks how Miss Campbell is. |
1888.07.06 | P. Patell | Asks where "Eliz." is. He has not heard from her and sent her money to get home one week prior to letter and has not heard back. |
1888.07.07 | ? D. Williams | Received letter requesting employment, no positions are open or will be in the immediate future. Suggests employment with hay crew for military park. |
1888.07.07 | Geo. Innes | Marching boys make fine appearance. Presents school with larger, newer flag for them to march with. |
1888.07.09 | Joseph M. Brown | Job at Wichita School (Riverside?) ending, would accept position at Haskell if offered. |
1888.07.10 | Anna C. Hamilton | Received letter granting 30 days leave, forwards letter from Mr. P. Pattell. |
1888.07.10 | E.E. Van Buskirk | Gardener, Mr. Hayes, has been absent since July 4 and neglecting his duties. Believes he is drunk. |
1888.07.11 | L.W. Tyler | Parents want their children home for vacation. (Jennie Afrey, Mattie Block, Muscogee Block, Elias Davis, Horian Billie.) |
1888.07.12 | ? Gorman | Letter ordering the removal of Hayes as gardener due to his conduct. Issues in Department, no one knows anything. Upshaw may take responsibility. |
1888.07.13 | ? Gorman | Received two letters from Miss May stating that Hayes has been drinking, and orders his dismissal again. Does not feel that drinking befits an employee of the Indian Service. Still no Commissioner or Superintendent appointed, no one knows anything. |
