This is a complete listing of the 184 letters from the personal papers of Gov. Charles Robinson held in the Kansas State Archives at the Kansas Historical Society that were identified as pertaining directly to Robinson's time at Haskell and were used in the development of this website. These letters were photographed by Jancita Warrington and indexed and transcribed by Travis Campbell in 2018. Wants his sons, Nathaniel Mennington and Arthur Fields, sent home for vacation.

Asking Robinson for help, wants to make a living and "not be idle like the rest of the Indians." Says R. treated him like a son and he wants a house.

Wants daughter sent home immediately as her term has expired.

Sends money for daughter, Angeline, to come home during vacation after which she will return to Haskell.

Needs small desks in classroom, needs classroom repainted, health is improving, wants position at Haskell for friend.

Sam Noble
Received Robinson's letter, children not wanting to go to Haskell because government is giving them each a pair of mules in the fall. Noble not returning because he is getting his land situated.

Glad to have visited Haskell and seen his friends. Wants Robinson to send him tickets to return to Haskell, nothing to do at Darlington.

Glad to see his friends, one girl was supposed to go to Haskell but was ill and could not. Not able to get other children at present.

Says he knows there is good housing at Haskell. Offers to get children at Darlington to send to Haskell. Says that if children are sick, they must be sent home immediately.

Wants to send his son to Haskell, but states that Robinson must treat him well and send any sick children home.

Asking for details on death of nephew, James Beaver, and update on Evaline Beaver.

James R. Murie
Pawnee man, "Known the Leader," bearing this letter will visit Haskell to see his daughter, Emma Leader. He will want his daugther to return home with him as her term is up. Murie asks for 5 passes for August, has been busy putting up hay for cattle.
