Kaw Nation
Born in Indian Territory, she was the first woman to serve as principal chief of the Kaw Nation, holding the position from 1922 to 1934. She was trained as a nurse at Haskell Institute. As chief, Eads prioritized education and worked to reestablish the Kaw Agency, delivering a petition to the Commission of Indian Affairs in 1924. Her leadership focused on reviving the nation after a period of decline and advocating for her people's rights during a time of significant societal change.
