Charles Robinson Letters

The letters in this collection, housed at the Kansas State Archives, date from Governor Charles Robinson's time as superintendent of Haskell Institute (1887-1889). The letters featured here represent only a small selection of the larger collection.

These letters shed a light on the daily workings of the school and serve as an invaluable primary resource illustrating the thoughts, concerns, and opinions of their writers in their own words.

Included among them are letters from students, parents, federal officials, community members and Robinson himself.

Special thanks to Dr. Rachel Brown of Haskell Indian Nations University, without whose assistance this exhibit would not have been possible.
